However, In the movie you find that Seneca Crane is locked into a room with just a bowl in the centre of the room, when he looks inside he finds nightlock berries, the same berries that Katniss and Peeta threatened to eat to commit suicide. He cannot escape the room, therefore is forced to eat the berries. In the book it doesn't says anything, but in the movie, it shows him locked in a room with a bowl of night lock berries which are the same peeta and katniss were going to eat so they died, I guess he had to eat them.
In book two, Katniss Everdeen hangs a dummy and paints the words "Seneca Crane" on it with red berry juice. In the end of the movie, it shows Seneca Crane locked in a room with the bowl of the poisonous nightlock berries. I believe that it was meant to send a message that said " Either die from lack of food and water or you can eat these nightlock berries and die an easy and painless death.
