And as always, speed comes with a price—higher RPM means shorter battery life. But a higher Kv motor will always spin faster than a lower Kv motor at the same voltage. A low-KV motor would be slower and less powerful than the high-kV one but its torque may provide better traction for off road driving. If you plan on using your RC vehicle in different terrains or just want to have some fun with speed, pick a kV that best suits your needs! By Joe Rich Table of Contents. RC Car Motor, 4. Understanding motor turns I am totaly confused on what motor turns mean , at first i was told the lower number of turns means slower speed and higher torque. Re: Understanding motor turns Thanks Guys nice easy explanations Re: Understanding motor turns Higher turn dont always mean more torque. Gear down! Posts: 20, This is why you need to consider the above points to pick the correct motor for your RC car. Kv measures the performance of a motor.
The Kv counts the motor spins when one-volt power is supplied to it. The higher Kv rating means faster motor efficiency. Like a Kv motor is faster than a Kv motor. The turns are the physical attribute of a motor that indicates the number of wrapping wire found inside the motor. The higher the amount of turn number shows you that there is more wire inside the motor with more resistance that slows down a motor.
In this point of view, the turns are the opposite of Kv. For instance, a 4. Now that you know more about KV and turns you can clearly see that although similar, when measuring for power of a motor, they are two very different measurements.
The Kv is a result of the performance output. On the other hand, the turn is a physical feature of the motor. If you compare the horsepower and displacement, the fewer turns show more Kv speed rating.
The situation is similar even to RC cars and trucks. If you are planning on buying a new brushless motor for your car, you will want to consider the above information to make sure you buy the correct one. The So if your car does not have I love to spend time with my wife and 3 kids.
